SOMATIC SESSION

Created using the principles of Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Sessions are a method of movement that combines traditional yoga sequencing with repetitive movements to create a sense of safety in the body. Different than a typical yoga class that often uses movement to downregulate the nervous system, the Somatic Session uses movement to build some heat in the body, offers cues to teach us how to stay with that heat, and then eases into the release we need to cultivate a sense of safety. Here we learn how to tolerate sensation, how to do something with the way we feel. This class is intended for every body, as are all classes at Sanctuary.
