Things we think you might want to know:
-
You decide!
Our pay-what-you-can model allows us to fund the operations of the studio through collective contribution. This means that if we show up with what we have and you do the same, together we discover that we have enough.
This isn’t charity. It’s community care. And we believe that what keeps us well is being in right relationship with each other. This approach allows us to be in right relationship with you long before you walk through our doors.
-
Schedule your class here or just walk in. The studio is pretty large and it’s very rare that you need to sign up in advance. If a class is waitlisted, you’ll see that on the schedule linked above.
If you would like to tour the studio before you come or would like to have someone meet you before you walk into a new place, let us know! We are happy to connect you with someone who will help you feel safe and settled.
-
We’re not. We are a somatic studio that offers yoga as one of the ways to be connected to your body.
What’s the difference?
Quite a bit, really, but what you really need to know is this:
A somatic studio will offer you many pathways to be connected to your body. A yoga studio will typically do the same thing - offer you a path to your body - but primarily just through the practice of yoga.
-
We do!
And while lots of places charge for you for mat rental, we don’t. It doesn’t actually cost us anything to let you use our mats, so why would we charge you for them?
We’re really just invested in the idea that you have what you need to feel safe and settled with us - and that includes a mat if you don’t have one.
-
Great question!
Really it’s just a funding philosophy that de-emphasizes the individual contribution in favor of approaching our collective needs collectively.
Collective contribution is an invitation to be a part of making movement and meditation, breath and body work, art therapy, and community sourced workshops available for every body, regardless of their ability to pay. You’ll get what you need and other people will, too.
You won’t pay more because someone pays less. You’ll just pay what you can, others will do the same, and together, there will be enough.
